Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King, Liverpool

Liverpool Met Cath Slider

This remarkable instrument was constructed for the new cathedral in 1967 by J W Walker & Sons Ltd; it is a fine example of their work at that time.

There are five manual divisions (including one collective), 88 speaking stops (78 ranks), 15 couplers and 3 tremulants; there are 4,565 pipes.

The organ was cleaned by DWOB in 1992 following a fire in the crypt and a new piston action was fitted to replace the original system; otherwise the instrument remains in its original form.
